Royal Geographical Society Ness Award

The Royal Geographical Society has announced their medals for 2016 and 'The Invention of Nature' won the Ness Award "For popularising the histories of geography and of scientific botanical exploration"! What an honour - of course Humboldt was also a fellow of the RGS.

Inaugural James Wright Award for Nature Writing (Kenyon Review in association with the Nature Conservancy): The Invention of Nature

'The Invention of Nature" will receive the inaugural James Wright Award for Nature Writing - a new major award from the Kenyon Review in association with the Nature Conservancy). The prize will be awarded at the annual gala of the Kenyon Review Award for Literary Achievement (which Hilary Mantel will receive) on 3 November 2016 in New York.

The award honors "a book of prose or poetry of surpassing literary insight into the human relationship with nature and the environment" - yeah!
